The World Expo has a long history but it has never been held in Asia. So the 2010 World Expo is an honor for all of the Asians. Our government has promised that it will be the best one. And Shanghai, as a host city, will have more chances to develop quickly. As a student in Shanghai, I should learn English well so that I can be a volunteer in the Expo to help foreigners know more about Shanghai. On December, 2002, China won the bid to hosting Expo 2010.This is the first General Exhibition hosted by a developing country; However, China has a long-standing relationship with World Expo. Chinese people have participated in World Expo since its first presence. After wining its liberation, the People’s Republic of China has taken part in 12 world expositions. Chinese exhibits won many prizes in previous world expositions. The Yisheng Wine was awarded with the gold medal at Expo 1906 Milan Italy; many others like the embroidery of the Portrait of Jesus, Gold Prize Brandy , and Mao-Tai Chiew were among the highlights at the Panama-Pacific International Exposition—San Francisco 1915.

China has taken an active part in the work of BIE since it joined the BIE on May 3, 1993. In December 2003 ,Mr. Wu Jianmin, the Chinese ambassador to France at that time, was elected as the Chairperson of BIE, and succeeded himself to the second consecutive term. It’s the first time in BIE history that an Asian occupied such an important position. 1993年5月3日，中國(guó)正式加入國(guó)際展覽局，并積極參與了國(guó)際展覽局的各項(xiàng)活動(dòng)。2003年12月，時(shí)任中國(guó)駐法國(guó)大使吳建民被推舉為國(guó)際展覽局主席，并連任兩屆主席，由亞洲人擔(dān)任此重要職務(wù)在國(guó)際展覽局歷史上還是第一次。
